In the aftermath of the Parkland school shooting, a school in Titusville, along Florida’s Space Coast, is under scrutiny for apparently not informing parents until just the past week that two students were expelled in 2017 for making a shooting threat.
The Associated Press reports that Astronaut High School made an automated call last Wednesday, informing parents that the students had been removed from the school and turned over to the state’s juvenile justice system. School officials claim that they needed to wait to inform parents, since it was an open investigation.
The investigation began after an art teacher told school officials that one of the students had threatened her. Although the school cleared the student, the teacher’s husband reported the student to police, who found various weapons stockpiled in his bedroom.
