Florida governor Rick Scott says he is “scared to death” for for residents who chose not to evacuate.
“I worry about them every second and I hope there are no children there who didn’t have the choice on their own to make these decisions,” said Gov. Scott.
Scott confirmed that rescue teams manned by more than 1,000 people were prepared to help once the storm passes, along with members of the National Guard and US Coast Guard.
Additionally, Scott mentioned about 50 people who told officials they would ride out the storm on an island in Franklin County.
President Trump said Wednesday that he plans to visit areas affected by the storm on Sunday or Monday to view the damage and recovery efforts.
