New York police say a mother is now facing charges after making up a fake kidnapping story to cover up her baby’s injuries.
Jeymi Guerra Cordova initially told police a man jumped in front of her son’s stroller and grabbed the child as they walked along a neighborhood street, Tuesday evening.
She then told police that she struggled with the man, who then threw the 1-year-old child to the pavement and fled, according to the arrest report.
Police say Cordova fabricated the story to cover up the the fact that her son was unrestrained in his stroller and fell out.
The boy suffered scrapes to his face and a large contusion to his forehead.
When she was re-interviewed by police, Cordova admitted to lying.
She was arrested and faces charges of making a punishable false statement.
