Neighbor calls police on mom who let 8-year-old walk dog alone

A neighbor called the police on an Illinois mother for allowing her 8-year-old daughter to walk the family dog by herself.

Authorities did not press charges, but it didn’t stop there.

The anonymous caller then called the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services who investigated the incident further.

DCF’s investigation reportedly found no “wrong-doing on the mother’s part and closed the case.

The child’s mother, Corey Widen, spoke out publicly regarding the incident saying it was “terrifying for all of us.”

The matter has sparked massive debate in connection to how adults choose to parent their children.

Widen claims people are “mom-shaming” her over the controversy and will continue to allow her daughter to walk the Maltese puppy, Marshmallow by herself.
