Former defenseman Bob Boughner is the new head coach of the Florida Panthers. Boughner has been named the 15th coach in the 24-year history of the franchise. The 46-year-old spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach in San Jose. Boughner takes over the Panthers after previous head coach Gerard Gallant was fired early this past season and replaced by general manager Tom Rowe. Florida finished 35-36-and-11 and missed the playoffs for the fourth time in five seasons. Boughner played 10 years in the NHL and recorded 15 goals and 57 assists over 630 career games.
