Monday, the former “Sex and the City” star Cynthia Nixon took to Twitter to announce her candidacy for governor of New York.
She will be challenging sitting governor Andrew Cuomo in New York’s Democratic Primary in September of this year.
In recent speeches, Nixon has called on Democrats to find a “liberal identity” instead of being an “anti-trump party.”
The 51-year-old mother of three is reportedly an ally of Democratic New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio who has clashed with Cuomo in the past.
Tuesday, Nixon spoke during her first campaign stop at the Bethesda Healing Center church on March 20. In the Brownsville section of Brooklyn New York.
If elected Nixon will be the first bisexual Governor in the history of New York.
